On Saturday, June 17, 2017, we will be conducting our annual Litter Index.

Volunteers are invited to meet us at the Chick-Fil-A on Holcomb Bridge (near Aurora Theater) at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast and to help with the index.

The index provides a snapshot look at how much litter there is in Roswell.  The city is divided into 5 areas by police zone.  Groups of 3 or more volunteers take a zone and drive it scoring the amount of litter they see.  Forms and maps are provided and it is completely up to each individual in the car to decide if an area is very littered or not littered or somewhere in between.  This takes about an hour depending the area and how familiar the driver is with it.

The Litter Index is an important tool for Keep Roswell Beautiful.  It provides information on where cleanups might be needed and roads that might need to be adopted through the Adopt-A-Road program.

Scoring is done on a scale of 1 (not litter) to 4 (very littered).  The previous 3 years are below:

Litter Index – 07/15 – 1.43

Litter Index – 07/14 – 1.55

Litter Index – 07/13 – 1.28
